The power of Music

The power of Music
By Aulia Dhian Rakhmadhani

Sometimes we feel bored when we study alone at home or in other places. Our brain cannot work better to study or to do something. As a result, we will play music in order to make us enjoyable and relax to get inspiration. However, we do not know why music can do that. Therefore, I think that we should study with playing and listening to the music because music is one of the ways to develop human’s brain.
Music makes our brain smarter and can help us finish boring tasks faster, because listening to music we like is pleasurable. It will not only make the tasks seem more fun but as research shows, it can actually help us complete the tasks faster. There is a study published in the journal of Neuroscience of Behavior and Physiology. It was found that a person’s ability to recognize images, letters, and numbers was faster when classical music or other music was playing in the background compared to when there was no music. Therefore, whatever type of music we like as long as we are listening to something, we will enjoy repetitive or boring tasks more and get them done faster.
Music can arouse emotions and affect human motoric system. For example, when we are watching horror movie accompanied by music we feel tensed and scared, whereas romantic movie makes us touched. That is because music has a power to stimulate the nervous systems that exist in our bodies to heighten and arouse emotions. Sometimes we do not realize when we are listening to music, a part of our body will quickly respond with a motion that we do not deliberate and we will dance when the music began to play. That is because the motoric system responds to the music very quickly.
Playing a musical instrument can also change the function and how the brain works. Our brain gets better in remembering things. When we play a piano, for instance, we force our brain to remember the note we just played. When we play a musical instrument we are exercising and making important electrical connections or path ways in our brain. This might even help our brain when we are trying to learn another language or a new subject. If learning to play a simple song is good, it is better for us to learn playing something much more complex. We know that pushing ourselves, physically or intellectually is very good for the development of the nervous system.

We can enjoy playing or listening music every time and everywhere we want. Music makes our brain fresh when we feel bored, actually. Besides, when we feel empty and think nothing, music is very good to create inspiration and arouse emotion. It is a good idea to develop and train our brain with playing and listening to the music to make it works better.
